Your Pants Size Is Not Always Your Belt Size
Measure Right. Buy Once. Wear for Life.
How to Find Your Correct Belt Size
Getting the right belt size is one of the most important parts of ordering a handmade belt. The good news? It's simple.
At Proven Hands, we build every belt so the center hole is your intended size, giving you room to adjust larger or smaller as needed.
1. Measure an Existing Belt — Best Method

This is by far the most accurate way to size a belt.
Take a belt that fits you well and measure from the point where the leather folds around the buckle to the hole you use most often. *If you have a stretchy belt, this method will not work.
That measurement is your belt size.
Example: If that measurement is 34", order a size 34 belt.
We'll build your belt so the center hole lands at 34", giving you adjustment room on either side.
If you're between sizes, we recommend rounding up.
2. Order Your Pants Size — 👍 Works for Most People
If you don't have a belt available to measure, simply order your normal pants size + 4".
Google will tell you to add 2", but because we use thicker leather, you need 3-4" and airing on the side of bigger is better.
For example:
-
Size 32 pants = Size 36 belt
-
Size 36 pants = Size 40 belt
-
Size 40 pants = Size 44 belt
We'll position the holes so the center hole is at this measurement.
What If I'm Buying a Belt as a Gift?
If you're purchasing a belt as a gift and don't know the recipient's size, we recommend our Belt Gift Box.
It allows the recipient to choose their size, leather color, and hardware preferences after receiving the gift, ensuring a perfect fit every time.
Our Fit Guarantee
We're confident we can get the fit right.
If your belt doesn't fit when it arrives, we'll exchange it for the correct size at no charge until it does.
The only exception is belts personalized directly on the belt body. Belts with personalization limited to the keeper loop remain eligible for exchange.
